Former President Donald Trump seems to have the high ground in the botched FBI raid on his Mar-a-Lago home last week. The backlash against the FBI and President Joe Biden’s Department of Justice has been fierce — with many alleging the DOJ has become a political weapon and Trump a victim of unreasonable, petty attacks by the Democratic Party.
Even political rivals such as former New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo and former presidential candidate Andrew Yang voiced concerns about the incident and the DOJ’s overreach.
The fact that the White House initially denied all foreknowledge of the event only added fuel to the partisan fire that most Americans find revolting.
Looking more and more like a 2024 presidential candidate, on Monday Trump spoke about the raid and his efforts to bring unity to America in an interview with Fox News Digital.
Offering to take the lead in easing tensions, Trump said, “Whatever we can do to help — because the temperature has to be brought down in the country. If it isn’t, terrible things are going to happen.”
According to the Daily Wire, Trump is outraged that the left has assaulted him with “years of fake witch hunts and phony Russia, Russia, Russia schemes and scams,” and lamented that “nothing happens to those people who perpetuate that — nothing happens with them.”
Trump added: “And then they break into a president’s house — a sneak attack where it was totally — no one ever thought a thing like this would happen.”
Nevertheless, Trump reportedly took a step to ease rising tension across the country, which has led some to call for defunding or dismantling the FBI and others to call for a civil war.
Trump told Fox News Digital that he reached out to U.S. Attorney General Merrick Garland (who personally signed off on the raid), writing:
“If there is anything we can do to help, I, and my people would certainly be willing to do that.”
“The country is in a very dangerous position,” Trump added. “There is tremendous anger, like I’ve never seen before, over all of the scams, and this new one — years of scams and witch hunts, and now this.”
Not many were surprised when Trump told Fox that he “has not heard” from the Justice Department regarding whether or not it will accept his offer to assist.
“I think they would want the same thing,” Trump reflected. “I’ve never seen anything like this,” he said. “It is a very dangerous time for our country.”
“I will do whatever I can to help the country,” he emphasized.
RTM previously noted that FBI Agents reported seizing classified records during the unprecedented raid on Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home. The raid, however, has been viewed as exceptionally unreasonable because Trump was cooperating with government requests regarding the documents in question and had declassified the documents prior to his leaving the Oval Office.
Many point to the political aspect of the raid as Hillary Clinton was known to have possessed, inappropriately handled and destroy classified documents and hard drives. And it is well known that former President Barack Obama is in possession of approximately 30,000,000 documents associated with his eight years in office. In these and other cases the FBI was never called on to send 30 officers to a private residence with a general search warrant to look for unspecified contraband.
According to Fox News, following the raid, the Department of Homeland Security and FBI have noted an increase in “violent” threats to agents as well as “general calls” in a general bulletin to the public.
The bulletin reportedly reads: “The FBI and DHS have identified multiple articulated threats and calls for the targeted killing of judicial law enforcement and government officials associated with the Palm Beach search, including the Federal judge who approved the Palm Beach search warrant.”
Some suggest the calls for civil war are coming from the left — an attempt to bring chaos to an already divided country and disrupt the coming November election, which most political advisors anticipate will result in significant losses for the Democrats.
